Heavy rain brought a few visitors to the garden. This was a great opportunity to dust off the macro lens, break out the glow sticks and get photographing!
Commonly named the flowerpot parasol, Leucocoprinus birnbaumii can often be found in glasshouses and humid climates.
The setup for this shot couldn’t have been simpler. I placed a glow stick in the dirt next to the mushrooms at varying distances to increase and decrease the light intensity for each shot. As this was at night time, a tripod was essential to keep the camera steady during the long exposure.
ISO was set to a low value, aperture locked in for the right depth of field and exposure adjusted over a few test shots until I was happy with the results.
